For that special up-market birthday, I love The Waterside Inn - great food, setting and service. If it's a culinary experience, not a meal, that you're after, it would have to be the Fat Duck.
And fish and chips have their plaice, too. Rick Stein's chip shops are excellent. EnglishFoodSpotlight: There are some world-beating places for a great meal in http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/EnglishFoodSpotlight/uk-100-best-restaurants-london-times_n_776923_65977598.html Permalink | Share it

Trapped Wind 08:13 PM on 11/01/2010 361 Fans Follow The UK was named the culinary capital of the world a couple of years ago. Times have changed. No more Fish and Chips rolled up in yesterdays news. We ate at the Allotment in Dover, which features locally produced food. We also had an amazing meal in Glastonbury at Who'da Thought. And none of it was French or Indian. What I loved most about English cuisine is that they use lots of different vegetables.
And if you do get to the West Country don't miss the clotted cream ice cream.
And then there are the hard ciders- apple and pear. God, I love English food and drink! odyssey58: I was in England in September and I was quite http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/odyssey58/uk-100-best-restaurants-london-times_n_776923_65826118.html Permalink | Share it
